So far FFXI is the only MMO to implement cross-platform play that I'm aware of. And I'm fairly sure they'll do the same for whatever consoles they decide to bring on board to XIV. My question is...what other "platforms" are they considering besides 360?

Maybe 360 and Mac?

Geez. Not even a day and already talking multi after an exclusive announcement. So my main question is who screwed who?

I like the sentiment. I don't like the approach.

As a gamer first, I'd gladly take more exclusives and less services. If they can manage both, even better. But MS seriously, get those first party studios back up and producing.

Being exclusive tech, Natal promises to bring exclusive games MS's way, but I'm overall sceptical whether ANY of this new motion stuff will bring games that matter to hardcores.

I don't care who has better or comes out sooner so long as I'm not playing 'Beachball Fun' on all of them.

^^^Sure. And the thread is signed by a few thousand PS3ers who've never played the game. Not people who y'know actually bought the game and feel passed over for L4D2.

If you're going to be irrationally supportive of your platform Master Chief, please do it with a modicum of intelligence.

Fans know this and feel shafted because they haven't yet seen any substantial content for L4D to either the SP or the MP. Really Valve, wtf?

Did they not see how poorly this would go over with fans? Unless this is magically revealed to be a content update or DLC, expect very annoyed customers.

Ftr, I could give a crap about the aesthetic arguments.

I'll pass on talking to some virtual boy. Pedo jokes aside, I don't see the fun in doing Seaman with some kid. Errr Seaman was a similar type game on Dreamcast, hopefully making the previous sentence sound less wrong...

I was never impressed by the kid itself, but the tech seems amazing. I want to see it stretch beyond advanced applications of virtual pets.

Edit: ^^^And that goes for all this motion stuff. It does no good if it's not ambitious.

Yeah see, I don't enjoy crying.

Oh I enjoyed overcoming the odds. But more often than not the game was more frustrating than it was actually challenging. It's just not built to appeal compared to contemporary MMOs like WoW which is probably why it wasn't as successful despite the FF brand name.

I think the goal should be experiencing the content, not spending weeks trying to hit certain levels so you can experience the content. And since levelling isn't particularl...

How can't Natal be used for gaming?

6118d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

Everyone says their motion thing is the best. It doesn't matter.

What matters is who makes the best use of it. Don't judge the tech alone, but it's application. We were all wowed by the Wii before it's release then quickly let down in practice. Exact same thing could happen here. No one really has their stuff finalized anyway.

"I knew this reminded me of FFIX! The same guy is directing it."

Not only that, it looks like it takes place in Vana'diel. If you go to the official site, there are pics of Mithra, Galka, and Elvaan all over the place. So I assume this will succeed FFXI. Which is damn awesome.

You didn't miss much. FFXI is brutally unforgiving compared to contemporary MMOs. I quit it about 5 times in 5 years. I hope XIV (I tire of Roman numerals btw) massively improves the learning curve. It seems likely as FFXI took a great many steps to dial back the difficulty in advancing for new players. Lessons learned, I pray.

Not to be dense, but how do you even play your old saves if it doesn't take UMDs? Was a compromise reached?

6118d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Seriously, no sh*t. You thought they were going to reinvent the wheel because it's on PS3? FFXI was on PS2 and it had fees as well. It's to be expected.

I played FFXI on both PS2 and PC and the PC version was much much more user friendly. So unless they've radically changed how you can play an MMO on consoles, I'll be on PC with this one too. It's barely announced though so there's plenty of room for expectation.

Quite the strong showing, I agree. Two hours of almost pure excitement. And I don't even like GoW.

Can't be that shocking to any but the densest of fans. MS themselves refused to confirm exclusivity so you had to figure it wasn't.

Kojima made it a point to say that he and his MGS5 team were developing the Peacewalker and that he would personally write it. Meanwhile MGS:R seems like the title Konami forced him to put out for sales. It could still be a good game, but it looks like it's little more than a quick tug of the teat. I hope whoever's directing has some ambition. I don...

I kind of wonder now. The phrasing was pretty specific.

But IGN was dead wrong on MGS:R exclusivity waffling between multi and not multi. If it's PS3 exclusive, fine, I got one of those. But I'd rather play an MMO on PC any day. I guess it would make sense if it was PC too though because otherwise they're leaving a good chunk of their FFXI player base in the dust. I assume they expect FFXIers to jump to XIV because it's also set in Vana'diel apparently. Of course that raises the ...

I'm leaning towards more of a replacement for the more outdated FFXI. It definitely seems related because I'm pretty sure I saw an elvaan and a galka in that video.

FF14 in 2010? Did he misspeak?

Online? Wow. Is this Rapture?

6118d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

"Hes not going to announce MGS:R on a PSP showcase!"

Also, the theme of the conference so far has been "only on Playstation" so they're obviously trying to focus on exclusive content.
